CRAFTSMEN TRAINING SCHEME (CTS)
The Craftsmen Training Scheme was introduced by the Government of India in year 1950 to ensure a steady flow of skilled work force in different trades for the domestic industry, to raise quantitatively and qualitatively the industrial production by systematic training, to reduce unemployment among the educated youth by providing them employable skills, to cultivate and nurture a technical and industrial attitude in the minds of younger generation.
Presently, this scheme is being implemented through a network of 15,042 ITIs (Govt. 2,738 + Private 12,304) and 33 NSTIs located all over the country by ensuring the general standards laid down by Director General of Training. Under the Craftsman Training scheme (CTS), the duration of various trades training courses varies between 1 to 2 years.
National Skill training Institute(W), Kolkata is an Institute under Directorate General of Training, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India is conducting Craftsman Training Scheme (CTS) / ITI courses under the aegis of NCVT in the following trades :

Combination of Subjects : The following subjects are covered.
- Trade Theory
- Trade Practical
- Employability Skills
Start of session : 25th September 2023 or the session 2023-2024
Eligibility for Admission : Passed 10th class examination or equivalent.
Admission & Award of Certificate :
Candidates can enroll for the above programmes for one year. The minimum pass percent for Trade Practical Examinations, Formative assessment is 60%. For trade theory & employability skills is 33% each . There will be no Grace marks. On possessing the above requisites, candidates will be allowed to appear for the final examination conducted by NCVT, New Delhi in June / July every year. On passing the prescribed exam, trainees will be awarded the Instructor training Certificate from NCVT.

Mess : Mess charges extra to be borne by the candidates in monthly basis.
Games : Outdoor Games & Open Air Gym facilities are available.
Working Hours : From 09.00 am to 5.30 pm with half hour lunch break on all working days (Monday to Friday).
Attendance : Minimum 80% attendance is required to appear in the Final Trade Test to be held at the end of the course.

CTS COURSES
Government of India initiated Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) in for imparting skills in various vocational trades to meet the skilled manpower requirements for technology and industrial growth of the country. About 70% of the training period is allotted to practical training and the rest to theoretical training relating to Trade theory.
